Returning after the brilliant 2018 finale concert ‘Exotic Tales’ Peter Luff conducts the opening of the BPO 2019 season which celebrates two of the great composers of the 20th century.
Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite brings storybook tales to life in vivid orchestral colour, joined by the jazzy rhythms and exotic harmonies of his Piano Concerto for the Left Hand. The second half features Prokofiev’s final Symphony No.7 - a nostalgic work written at the end of his life and originally conceptualised as a children’s symphony. Those that saw BPO’s previous collaborations with Peter including Scheherazade in 2018 and The Planets in 2017 will know that this will be a spectacular concert.
