Concierto de Aranjuez

BPO_2018-Brochure 6 May.jpg

We welcome emerging local talent, Eleanor Bausch, to perform the most famous guitar concerto ever – Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez. The work’s outer movements evoke the lush gardens and elegance of a Spanish royal palace, framing the bittersweet slow movement that mourns the horrors of the Spanish Civil War. Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony also features, beginning with a serious melody representing ‘fate’ but transforming into victory for the symphony’s triumphant finale.

Conductor: Steven Moore

Soloist: Eleanor Bausch (guitar)
