The 17-piece QLD Youth Orchestra Big Band will present a concert featuring guest vocalists and a string orchestra performing classic swing charts made famous by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald alongside contemporary arrangements by many of Australia's finest Jazz composers.
Kristin Berardi is an Internationally award-winning vocalist and her accolades include winning the World Jazz Vocal Competition, The National Jazz Award in Australia and receiving a Freedman Fellowship.
Kayleigh Pincott is an emerging talent on the Brisbane Scene and was awarded the 2016 James Morrison Generations in Jazz Vocal Scholarship. Indie/pop vocalist and Graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music Kieren T. Stevenson is active promoting his new release Go. Adelina Martinez and Matt Copley are both current members of the QYO Big Band and are already in demand as performers across a variety of styles.
The QLD Youth Orchestra Big Band is an ensemble consisting of many of Brisbane's finest young musicians aged between 16-22. They have toured Queensland and performed with artists including James Morrison and Troy Cassar-Daley. Under Director Rafael Karlen they will lead you through sensitive renditions of many Swing classics and exciting new works in the beautiful Concert Hall of the Old Museum.
