“once upon a time a girl who played ukulele met a guy who played guitar…they both sang a little…
the whiskey archive brings together the vocal, musical and songwriting talents of ukulele songstress jane cameron and singer/songwriter mark bentley. the result is a blend of smooth, smoky indie folk with a hint of alt-country and a nod to the punk/goth influences of brisbane’s music scene in the 70s and 80s.
since their first show in september 2011, the whiskey archive has rapidly gathered a loyal following with a string of shows at some of brisbane’s most iconic live venues, including the zoo and ric’s bar. their songs are rich with imagery and stories of the deep places of the heart – the places that hurt and heal, that transform both the everyday and the extraordinary into moments that resonate with everyone. laced through with sweet, haunting harmonies and an openness and warmth that continues to captivate audiences, the whiskey archive’s live performances are something to be savoured.”
